CUNNINGHAM, TN − The Montgomery Central wrestling program hosted their first home duals of the season on Tuesday night in Cunningham and both the boys and girls teams had a huge night. The boys walloped Hillsboro 84-0 and followed up with a 78-5 victory over Northwest, while the girls notched a 33-30 win over the Northwest girls.

“I’d say I’m stunned, but I’m not,” said the boys’ new head coach Derek Levendusky. “I believe in this team. We’ve been preaching good-to-great the last few seasons and we’ve set high goals and standards. The result is that we’ve gotten tough right up and down the lineup. Tonight is evidence of their buy-in and hard work.”

The 84-0 shutout was historic for the Indians, as that’s not only the maximum amount of points a team can score in a dual, it’s the first time it’s happened in the history of the program.

Montgomery Central boys were undefeated on the night at 13 of 14 weights. Craig Sudderth had two pins at 144 pounds, Tamarion Johnson had two at 157, Cayson Rasch had two at 165, Eli Cline had two at 215, and Hunter Mitchell had two at 285.

For the girls, six earned wins. Freshman Easton Dadiomoff, ranked No. 3 in Tennessee, won by fall at 100; returning state qualifier Devin Jost scored a pin at 107; Mackenzie Bryant had a forfeit at 120; junior first-year wrestler Angie Hernandez got a pin at 126; senior #3 ranked Jo Kolozsy won a 6-4 match over returning state qualifier Shyanne Tandy at 145; and two-time state champion, No. 1 ranked Audrey Levendusky won by forfeit at 152.

The Indians will wrestle again at home on Thursday night against Hume Fogg and Clarksville Academy.

Steve Heberer, the previous boys’ head coach and Regional Coach of the Year last season, is now the girls’ head coach.
