CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) –The Montgomery Central Lady Indians hosted the Jo Byrns Red Devils for a Tuesday night matchup. A physical, defensive battle saw the lead change hands back and forth, but the Indians pulled away late for a 48-37 win, powered by a double-double from Katarina Vidovic. It’s the Lady Indian’s first home win of the year.
Both teams were physical on the defensive end of the floor throughout the night, especially down low. However, Central was able to break through an aggressive press defense from the Red Devils and made some timely buckets to earn a 21-16 halftime lead. Indians head coach Billy Youngquist said that it’s an area they’ve improved in, and it’s translated to better defense.
“Breaking the press is an area we’ve gotten better in from November to now,” said Youngquist. “When you’re not turning the ball over, it’s easier to play defense. Defensively, it’s just about hustle and want to, and they played very hard tonight.”

While Jo Byrns made a late run to bring the game within two points, Montgomery Central sank their free throws late, earning them their first home win of the year. For the Lady Indians, it’s a culmination of all of the work they’ve put in throughout the 2024-25 season.
“I’m just so happy for the girls,” said Youngquist. “They’ve put in the work, and they haven’t always gotten the result, but tonight, they get to see some of the fruits of their labor. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
