CLARKSVILLE, TN − On Jan. 18th, MCHS Dance held its first Hometown Pep Rally and welcomed schools from around the county and surrounding counties to come and showcase their schools cheer and dance teams’ talent. West Creek Middle and High, Dickson County High, Kirkwood, Rossview, Montgomery Central were all in attendance. This event will be a yearly tradition from here on out, where we look forward to making it bigger each year.
The MCHS Dance Team is headed to Walt Disney World, Jan. 29, to compete in UDA Highschool Dance Team Nationals.
In June 2024, the team traveled to Memphis, Tennessee where they attended UDA Dance Camp. There they competed and won two bids to Nationals as well as many other awards and achievements. They received 3rd Place Home Routine, 110% Award, Superior Trophy, 10 All American Winners, Drill Down Winners, Pin It Forward Award, and all Blue Ribbons.
Four years ago, the MCHS Dance Team was started back up by the school’s own alumni, Alana Potter and Liz Bateman. Alana and Liz were members of the school dance team their four years of high school, where they competed at UDA Camps, State Competition and Nationals. In 2006, was the first time at UDA Nationals not only as a team, but also in school history. They also were the first and only team in Montgomery County to go to Orlando and compete.
“We are so excited to experience this full circle moment with these girls,” Alana Potter said. “We had the best time in high school, dancing at Walt Disney World at UDA Nationals, and getting to take the team once again, all these years later, is really a once in a lifetime opportunity for these girls! They have worked so hard and overcame so many challenges to get to this point. We are a small team, but these girls are mighty! We wouldn’t have been able to get to this point if it weren’t for all the amazing support we have received from sponsors, donations, family & friends, teachers, the community, staff and administrators. Thank you all so much for your continued support, love and encouragement!”
