CUNNINGHAM, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Northeast Eagles flag football team traveled across the river to Montgomery Central High School for a district matchup on Monday night. The Central offense scored early, and their defense put a 0 on the scoreboard for a big 30-0 win.

Central receiver Reanna Stockling took the third pass of the contest 70 yards, juking out multiple defenders before outrunning them all to the endzone. After a three-and-out from Northeast, Stockling found the endzone again, this time on a 10-yard pass from quarterback Audrey Levendusky. The Eagles kept the Indians out of the endzone in the second quarter, but Maggie Ward and Libby Dominiak both found the endzone on the Indians’ first two possessions of the third quarter, making it a 34-0 ball game, and a hard lead to overcome.

“It was a great way to rebound and get right,” said Indians head coach Spencer Harp. “We wanted to show what our offense could do. Those short outs are great, because our girls can make plays with the ball in their hands.”

Defensively, the Eagles never crossed midfield, as the Indians’ coverage was suffocating, with two interceptions on the night. The thing that made the most difference? The fundamental-flag pulling. Ward found the endzone one more time before the clock hit triple zeros, and the Indians ran away with a win at home.

“When girls get to the flags and make sure they don’t get any extra yards after the catch, that’s huge,” said Harp. “We just have to keep working, we can’t be satisfied with what we’ve got. They know that we’re not perfect, and it’s all about us as a team continuing to grow.”
