CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Board of Education met Tuesday, March 17 and an inclement weather makeup plan was passed that won’t require students to make up any missed days.
During the meeting Director of Schools, Dr. B.J. Worthington said with the timing of the inclement weather late in the season there isn’t enough time to make up the number of days missed so the Tennessee Commissioner of Education has offered a waiver to forgive the days.
Worthington talked about the plan. “As far as students, they won’t be making up any days. We’re going to take April 10 which was an early release day and so what that does, that will be a full day for students on that day and after that they won’t make up any days,” said Worthington.
Also at the meeting, Worthington and Chief Operations Officer for the school system Jim Sumrell praised many school educators, custodians, and maintenance employees for their efforts which were described as above and beyond the call of duty in taking care of school facilities during the bad weather.
Many of the school system employees were given Point of Pride awards from the school board. There were also a number of students and teachers who who were presented with awards at the meeting.
