CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Millan Foundation invites the community to attend its upcoming Service Beyond the Uniform event on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 4:30 p.m. at the Tennessee Wings of Liberty Museum.

Centered on the theme, “The Service We Do Not Always See,” this year’s event will highlight the experiences, leadership, sacrifices, careers, and contributions of military spouses.

Military service affects more than the person wearing the uniform. It shapes families, careers, workplaces, and entire communities. Through an honest panel discussion, Service Beyond the Uniform will create space for military spouses to share their experiences while encouraging employers and community leaders to consider how they can better support military-connected families.

The conversation will be moderated by Brig. Gen. (retired) Scott E. Brower, with panelists Mari Linfoot, Andrea Herrera, Courtney Brower, and Sharon Reyman sharing their perspectives and experiences.

“We are very excited about this event. Very few people understand what our military spouses do in our community. Not only do they care for their own families, often with the Service Member deployed, but they help support each other and are very often deeply engaged within our communities. We hope to shed some light on how they contribute, while also helping local business leaders understand why this population might be a hidden gold mine of talent to help fill their labor needs,” Browder said.

The event also supports the Jack & Margie Turner Leadership & Service Fund, honoring the Turners’ legacy of service and leadership. During the program, the Millan Foundation will recognize three military-connected nonprofit programs receiving support through the Fund:

  • The Honor Foundation’s Vector Accelerator Program
  • Operation Stand Down Tennessee’s Operation Commissary Program
  • The Carl Ferrazza Fund through the Fort Campbell Historical Foundation

“Service Beyond the Uniform was created to do more than share important stories. It is meant to turn understanding into action. Through the Jack & Margie Turner Leadership & Service Fund, we can honor a legacy of service while investing in organizations that continue to stand beside service members, Veterans, military spouses, and their families,” Leo Millan said.
