CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The USO RP/6 Center in Clarksville continues its work helping service men and women transition out of the military. This week we’re going to learn how RP/6 helped one soldier, Naomi Fischer, as she retired from the Army.

Fischer joined the Army in 1996 and had a number of duty stations, in a total of six states over the years, which included deployments to Bosnia, Albania, Iraq and Afghanistan. She served in the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Campbell as a squad leader from 2012 until her retirement in June of 2016.

Fischer talked about the support she received from RP/6 as she was leaving the Army. “They took my resume and looked at it to see if it was what was needed to get a job on the outside. They gave me pointers on getting it fixed and pointers on different jobs for what I was looking for,” said Fischer.

Fischer added that RP/6 helped her reach out in her job search to her home state Pennsylvania where she now lives with her daughter. She is also now in her career field of choice, healthcare, and has accepted a new job where she will continue to serve wounded warriors.

She is currently working as an advocate for the Army’s ill and injured and helping them transition back into the fighting force or out of the Army and back into civilian life.

It was not only her career but RP/6 was also able to help with other things as well. “They gave me a rundown of everything I needed to look at, not just job wise but for my personal life, setting me up for success in my transition,” Fischer said.
