CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Imagine having a dream for over a decade, watching it come to pass, and then watching as it is taken away on a late Saturday night.

Adrian and Diana Gonzales, owners of Fatboy Tacos food truck, are finding ways to make the best of the situation after an April crash derailed their business.

“Starting our own business has been a dream for over a decade and it finally came through,” Adrian Gonzales said.

During his time in the military, Adrian started to think about ways to support his wife’s desire to own a family business. He knew how much she loved to cook and came up with an idea for a Cali Style food truck, which at the time did not have a presence in Clarksville. After a discussion with Diana, Fatboy Tacos food truck became a reality.

“I was nervous about starting a business and pouring our personal savings into a new venture, but was pleasantly surprised by the love we received. We would open our window to a line of customers on a weekly basis,” Diana said.

The crash occurred while Adrian was on his way home from a job at Kings Bluff Brewery, but he said it could have been much worse. He was the only one in the vehicle that night, which was unusual.

“Things could have been much worse. We lost material things, which can be replaced. I am so happy my family was not with me,” Adrian said.

The couple is taking steps to reopen the taco truck. They will continue to seek the guidance of the Tennessee Small Business Development Center, which was instrumental in helping them get started.
