CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The annual Big Fish Mickey Fisher Memorial Golf Tournament is coming up Friday and Saturday, July 7 & 8 at Fort Campbell’s Cole Park Golf Course. The shotgun start for the four person teams is at 8 a.m. for both days. The tournament creates awareness for fallen soldiers and allows local military families to receive scholarships for their children to attend Austin Peay State University (APSU).

This is the eighth year of the event and each year a new recipient is selected to receive $5,000 annually for four years while attending APSU. The scholarship is renewable as long as the student maintains a 3.0 GPA and full-time enrollment status. The 2017 scholarship recipient was awarded to Tosca Reic, a graduate of Rossview High School who is enrolling at APSU this fall.

Mickey Fisher was a family man, he played basketball at Clarksville High and Austin Peay, and then taught and coached in the Fort Campbell School System for 33 years before he retired and passed away shortly after his retirement. His wife Mary, and sons Bret, Ryne and Hunter carry on his memory with the tournament.

Along with the tournament, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, July 7, there will be a dinner, silent auction, live auction and the presentation of the scholarship, at the Bud Barn, 1803 Ross Road, Cedar Hill. TN., just off Exit 19 on I-24. Tickets are $25 for couples, $15 for a single with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the scholarships.
