CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Michael Lankford has announced his campaign for the Republican nomination to the Montgomery County Commission, District 6.

Lankford is a financial officer with Farm Credit Mid America, serving farmers and rural land owners in Montgomery, Cheatham, Houston, Stewart and Davidson counties.

He is a graduate of Austin Peay State University and UT Martin with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in agriculture business and risk management.

“As a Montgomery County native, I have personally experienced and celebrated its successes but have also realized areas for improvement. My professional and volunteer experiences have provided me with a solid foundation of public interaction that has afforded me the opportunity to have conversations with residents across the county and discover what is really important to them and their families,” he said.

He said that as a commissioner he would focus on “building our infrastructure to match growth as well as ensuring that dollars are allocated appropriately to our public safety sector to keep our communities safe.”

“Being employed in the agriculture and financial services industry, I place a large emphasis on strategy and fiscal responsibility,” Lankford said. “I would directly translate this philosophy to my duties as a commissioner; as Montgomery County continues to grow, the need to maintain fiscal responsibility and ensure strategic growth only gains importance.”

Lankford is a graduate of Leadership Clarksville, Class of 2021, and is a member of Queen City Masonic Lodge.

District 6 covers Cumberland Heights, Palmyra, Oakridge and much of southwest Montgomery County, from the Cumberland River to Highway 48/13 and, roughly, Louise Creek.
