CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Jessica Ann Sanford from Cumberland Furnace, recently won the title of Tennessee Miss Amazing Pre-Teen Miss for ages 9-12. The Miss Amazing pageant is a national program offering opportunities for girls and women with disabilities to reach their full potential.

Sanford has epilepsy which was brought on after suffering a stroke when she was three-years-old. But Sanford along with her parents Craig and Beverly agree that she doesn’t let her disability stand in her way of who she is and doing what she wants to do.

Sanford talked about the Miss Amazing pageant. “It’s kind of happiness, because now I am going to the nationals and I hope I win because people keep saying I’m going to win,” Sanford said.
The National Miss Amazing is being held in Chicago, Illinois August 4-9. Miss Amazing Inc, is a nonprofit organization and this year 160 girls and women will unite in Chicago to show the world they are confident, able and amazing.

Sanford participates locally in the Buddy Ball Special Needs Athletic League and said her favorite sport is baseball. Speaking of pageants, Sanford won the title of “Princess” in the Buddy Ball Pageants held earlier this year, which by the way was her first pageant. Buddy Ball is part of Progressive Directions Inc.

Sanford talked about living on her farm in the country and about some of the things she enjoys doing. She likes to play with her dog Cupid and she said that sometimes her dog Chloe will bark if she has an epileptic seizure in the night. She also talked about some of the other animals on the farm including ponies and ducks.

The Sanford family is planning a car wash on July 9, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., in the parking lot of Rural King on Fort Campbell Blvd. and on July 13 a Spirit Night will be held at Chick-fil-A on Wilma Rudolph Blvd. Both events are fundraisers to help support the cost of the trip to the national Miss Amazing pageant.
