CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Coming soon to a Q near you: “The Q Morning Crew with Tommy and Katie” on Q108, with new hosts who are eager to get to know Clarksville.
Tommy Jordan comes to Q108 from stations in Lubbock, Texas, but he’s originally from Philadelphia.
As you might expect, he’s a fan of all things Philly: the Eagles, the Flyers, the Phillies – and the cheesesteaks.
“In Philadelphia, everyone thinks we love cheesesteaks. I actually do,” Tommy said. When he’s tried so-called Philly cheesesteaks outside the city, they usually get a key element wrong. They forget the Cheez Whiz. “You gotta put the Whiz on there,” he said.
Off the clock he plays guitar and video games, MLB The Show being his favorite.
Katie Jay comes to Q108 from just up the road in Paducah, Kentucky, where she hosted a morning radio show. She’s originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, an area also known for cheese.
“Everyone thinks it’s all cows and cheese. But in Milwaukee it’s all beers and bars,” Katie said.
She enjoys making fragrance candles, hiking and exploring new places such as farmers’ markets.
What to expect
With both hosts being new to town, the new show will start out with a lot of getting to know Clarksville.
“We’re both new to Clarksville, so we’re both trying new things together,” Katie said. “We want the community to get involved and help us find out what we should try.”
The show will keep many of the favorite regular features from Q108’s prior morning shows, including “Call a Cop” and “Qt-est Pet.”
Being part of a morning show is like nothing else, Katie said.
“For a lot of people, when you’re waking up, you haven’t even used your voice yet. We want to be the first thing people are listening to in the morning, giving people something lighthearted and fun.”
Morning shows also offer a chance to bounce ideas off a co-host, Tommy said.
“It’s a chance to open up and to be yourself, and to talk to an audience of listeners,” he said. “And it’s better than talking to yourself.”
To entertain and serve
Both said they’re excited to be here and can’t wait to get to know the listeners.
“Don’t be shy to say hi,” Katie said. “If you see us out and about, don’t hide in a bush.”
5 Star Media Group Operations Manager Ryan Ploeckelman said he’s excited to introduce the new morning show.
“It’s important to us to have a local morning show that entertains and serves our community, and Tommy and Katie will do just that,” he said.
The Q Morning Crew with Tommy and Katie debuts on Monday, April 25, and will be on the air weekdays from 5-10 a.m.
