MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – Over two months after a Fort Campbell soldier’s body was found in a rural area of Palmyra, the State Medical Examiner has ruled her death a homicide.
Public Information Officer for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Sandra Brandon confirmed the information.
The body of Melissa Sue Napier (Woodruff), 30, of Clarksville was found Dec. 10 near Tarsus Road in Montgomery County. She had been reported missing by her brother Dec. 8.
Napier, originally from New York, was an Army veteran. She served in the military for four and a half years and rose to the rank of an E-5 Sergeant. She completed two tours in Iraq working as a Chemical Operations Specialist.
Brandon said the investigation is ongoing. No further information will be released at this time.
