CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The local chapter of the Meals on Wheels program is in urgent need of volunteers to help prepare and deliver food to the elderly and disabled in Clarksville-Montgomery County.

Jill Arney, Meals on Wheels Coordinator for Montgomery County, said the organization is in desperate need of volunteers.

“We need drivers Monday through Friday from 10 until noon with each route taking about and hour to an hour and-a-half of your time. I also need kitchen help Monday through Friday from 8 until noon,” said Arney.

Arney added that volunteers can participate once a week, once a month, they can deliver on their lunch break, or whatever else works for them. Any help would be accepted and appreciated.

Around 140 people are served meals everyday Monday-Friday in Montgomery County.

The organization, which is part of Mid-Cumberland Human Resource Agency (MCHRA), and the United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region, is also in need of donations to help provide hot meals those who are elderly and disabled.
