CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) During the month of October, Mid-Cumberland Meals on Wheels partnered with Mars Incorporated to form an alliance called AniMeals to feed the dogs and cats of seniors citizens who receive Meals on Wheels.
Seniors with pets have 21% fewer doctor visits than seniors without pets so Meals on Wheels feels it is important to help seniors afford to keep their pets. For many seniors their pet is their only family, and they often feed their needed food to their pet so the pet does not go hungry.
AniMeals delivered its 100,000th pound of pet food in October since the program began in 2012! Mars and Meals on Wheels believe in the strong bond between seniors and their pets and want to help the bond flourish. Mid-Cumberland Meals on Wheels serves around 250 seniors each year in Clarksville-Montgomery County.
