MIDDLE TENNESSEE – Mid-Cumberland Meals on Wheels has partnered with Mars Incorporated to form an alliance called AniMeals to feed the pets of senior citizens receiving Meals on Wheels during the month of October.
Seniors with pets have 21 percent less doctor visits than seniors without pets, so Meals on Wheels feels it is important to help seniors afford to keep their pets. For many seniors their pet is their only family, and they often feed their needed food to their pet so the pet does not go hungry.
Mars has donated over 75,000 pounds of its Nutro pet food since 2012 and Meals on Wheels has delivered it so the strong bond between seniors and their pets can flourish.
