EEDYVILLE, Ky. – Representatives from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) will attend the funeral of Ky. State Trooper Joseph Cameron Ponder, who was killed in the line of duty last Sunday.

Ponder was shot and killed late Sunday night just south of Eddyville, Kentucky and troopers later shot and killed the suspect after he refused to put down his weapon.

The funeral will be held held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Severns Valley Baptist Church at 1100 Ring Rd. in Elizabethtown.

The burial will follow the service at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery at Fort Knox.

Public Information Officer Sandra Brandon, Lt. Jessie Nugent, and Captain Ron Farley from MCSO will be in attendance. Farley’s brother is a trooper with Kentucky State Police.
