DEPUTY MEGAN CORDER
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the promotion of Deputy Megan Corder to Corporal.

Corder is a three year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office. She started her career in 2013 in the detention center. In 2014 she was promoted to Field Training Officer. She will continue working in the detention center serving as a Corporal on second shift.

Before joining the Sheriff’s Officer Corder worked as a leasing agent for a local apartment complex. She is married to a fellow Deputy who works third shift in the detention center. They have one child together, a five-month-old daughter.

Corder credits her supervisors at the Sheriff’s Office for her success. “I would not be here without the leadership of Sergeant Secrest and Lieutenant Pierce,” said Corder. “I am grateful for the opportunity to expand my service to the community.”

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is proud to announce Claudia Silva has recently graduated from The Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) in Nashville.

TLETA administers four Basic Law Enforcement Schools a year. Students undergo 12 weeks of on-site training. They live on campus for the entire curriculum and are only allowed to go home on weekends. Perspective law enforcement officers must pass physical, ethical, technical, and tactical standards before receiving their P.O.S.T (Peace Officer Standards Training) commission.

Silva started her career at the Sheriff’s Office in 2007 as a deputy in detention center. In 2011 she was promoted to the rank of Corporal. In 2013 she moved over to the Warrants Unit.

“I’ve very excited about graduating from the Academy,” said Silva. “It will open more doors for me at the Sheriff’s Office and I look forward to a long career here.”

CORPORAL SAMUEL SHOOPMAN
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the promotion of Corporal Samuel Shoopman to Sergeant.

Shoopman is a twelve year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office. He started his career in 2004 in the detention center. In 2011 he was promoted to Corporal. Shoopman will continue working in the detention center serving as a Sergeant on second shift.

Before working at the Sheriff’s Office, Shoopman served in the United States Military.

“I’m living proof you should never give up,” said Shoopman. “I started out very green, but with training, great supervisors, and dedication, I was able to make a career for myself at the Sheriff’s Office.”
