CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Mayor Kim McMillan is included in a new book published by AARP.
According to AARP, Where We Live: Communities for All Ages celebrates 100-plus ideas from almost 100 mayors nationwide – past and present – who demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to building communities that are livable for people of all ages.
Mayor McMillan, who serves as the current president of the RTA, was asked specifically to comment on transportation in the Middle TN region. Expansion of transit options is a key factor in economic development.
“It is such an honor to be invited to take part in this important project,” McMillan said. “I am thrilled that AARP recognizes the importance that transportation plays in the Middle TN region and the steps were are taking to make it easier to travel from place to place.”
Mayor McMillan and Mayor Andy Berke of Chattanooga are the only Tennessee mayors included in tge book.
According to AARP, 1 in 3 adults is over the age of 50 and 1 in 5 will be over the age of 65 by the year 2030.
