CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Montgomery County Commission met Tuesday, September 2 with new leadership under County Mayor Jim Durrett and eight new County Commissioners. District 1 Commissioner, John Gannon was sworn in by Mayor Durrett. Gannon could not be at the swearing in ceremony for all of the 21 commissioners Wednesday, August 27.
Also Monday, the Commissioner’s formally chose Durrett as chairman of the legislative body and District 14 Commissioner Tommy Vallejos was named mayor pro-tem of the County Commission. Vellejos will represent Durrett, the commission and the county when the mayor is absent.
Vallejos talked about his election to the position. “I feel honored to serve with our new mayor. I feel honored to represent not just District 14 but also the county. I plan to work hard with the mayor and all of my fellow commissioners to ensure the progress of moving forward with the county’s business,” said Vallejos.
The Montgomery County Commission will meet in its formal session on Monday, September 8 at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd floor of the Montgomery County Courthouse.
