CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center (MWCHC) debuted their brand-new mobile clinic at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. At an event June 23 the clinic offered health counseling, as well as blood pressure, diabetes, and HIV screenings.

The mobile clinic was on site at the “Women in Clarksville” event.  “Women in Clarksville” is a series of health and wellness events taking place throughout the summer.

Dr Catherine Meeks of Sango Pharmacy spoke to the audience Sunday. She provided information on menopause and diabetes. Her talk focused on what women can do to maintain both their health and happiness through good practices.

According to Tanya Johnson, operations manager for MWCHC, the main goal of the event was education and prevention. This year marks Matthew Walker’s 51st anniversary.

Clarksville’s First Lady, Cynthia Pitts, attended the event. Pitts received the first screening in the new mobile clinic.

“When my husband got elected, I wanted to do something for the women in this community and I felt like health and wellness was one thing I wanted to focus on,” said Pitts. “We are having events every month focusing on different topics.”
