Mary Therese (Baltz) Davis, 87, of Clarksville, Tennessee, was born to eternal life on August 30, 2022.
She will be remembered as the epitome of unconditional love, and a powerful example of how to treat others. She was an exceptionally devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, friend and Catholic. She had a gift for doing the little things in life with kindness, making all who knew her feel special.
Born the eldest of eight siblings in Pocahontas, Arkansas, where she began her long nursing career making rural house calls with her physician father, she later married and moved to Clarksville, Tennessee, in 1960 to serve with her husband as co-owner of a family-owned pharmacy, Dickson Sadler Drug Co., and to raise five beloved children and many grandchildren. A creative soul, she loved music, stained glass, painting, reading, poetry, gardening, puzzles, and birdwatching. She was quick to laugh, highly literate and open-minded, and impressed her grandchildren with her witty social media comments. She never had an unkind word to say, and approached both life and death with grace and authenticity.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Horace E. Davis, and her parents, Dr. Matthias Anthony Baltz and Mary Louise DeClerk Baltz. She is survived by sons Michael (DeAnna) Davis of Nashville, and Dr. James (Martha) Davis and Gary (Lisa) Davis of Clarksville; daughters Anne (Peter) Martin of Clarksville and Katie (Mike) Harris of Mt. Juliet; siblings Guy (Joan) Baltz, Rita (Henry, dec.) Dust, Madeline (Carl) Throesch, Millie (Bill) Kueter, Dr. Albert (Rose) Baltz, Genie (Lloyd, dec.) Harper, and Janet (Dennis, dec.) Holt of Arkansas; eighteen grandchildren, Kevin (Mandy) Davis, Rob (Grace) Davis, Matthew Davis, Clay Davis, Dr. Krista Davis (Jake Durm), Jenna Davis, Austin (Mackenzie) Davis, Jason Jones, Blake (Kaylee) Davis, Rachel Davis, Christopher Martin, Daniel (Samantha) Martin, Laura Martin, Meghan Martin, Jake Harris, Zoe Harris, Mia Harris, and Vivi Harris; and five great-grandchildren, Jada Jones, Kaleb Jones, Emily Martin, Elliot Davis, and Daisy Durm.
The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to her devoted caregiver and dear friend Melanie, who fulfilled God’s promise that there are indeed Angels on Earth.
