CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- The Clarksville NAACP Community Celebration of  Martin L. King, Jr.  Day will be held on Sunday, Jan. 19 and Monday, Jan. 20.

On Sunday, Jan. 19, the opening celebration and worship service will be held at 5 p.m. at Christ the Healer Church, located at 1295 Paradise Hill Road.

Monday at 8:30 a.m, an adult panel discussion, youth educational workshops, and a mini health fair will be held at Burt Elementary School located at 110 Bailey Street.

Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. and the forum a.m. and classes will begin at 9 a.m. Classes will be held for youth of all ages during the forums. Adult forums will be held in the school gym.

The annual MLK Day March will begin at noon.

“We are asking the community to join us as we keep hope alive for our youth reminding them and us of the path taken to win us the rights and privileges we now enjoy,” said Jimmie Garland, NAACP president. “Remember January 20, 2020, is a Day On…Not a Day Off.”

The event is sponsored by the Clarksville Branch NAACP and the National Panhellenic Council of Greater Clarksville, Tenn.

At noon the Branch will host their Annual MLK Commemorative March.
