Martha “June” Groves Wall, age 88, of Clarksville, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Alive Hospice Residence, in Nashville.
June was born March 30, 1926, in Southside, TN, to the late Oliver Columbus Groves, Sr. and Mabry Harper Groves. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Burgess Wall; and three sisters, Ann Sinks, Rebecca Rowland, and Mildred Williams.
Affectionately known as “Mama June,” Mrs. Wall was a member at Rye’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She worked in the cafeteria at Montgomery Central High School and more recently at the Acme Boot Company until her retirement.
Funeral service will be at noon on Saturday, December 20, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Hargrove officiating. Burial will follow at Rye’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 19, and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
June is survived by two sons, Burney (Carol) Wall of Southside, TN and Carl (Sue) Wall of Clarksville; daughter, Carol (Sammy) Mickle of Clarksville; and brother, O.C. (Virginia) Groves of Cumberland Furnace, TN. Mrs. Wall was also the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jason Wall, Billy Wall, Michael Wall, Clint Lehman, Ray Wolfe, Paul Traylor, Jacob Traylor, and Jared Traylor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rye’s Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Dorothy Groves, 224 Grays Chapel Road, Cunningham, TN 37052.
