CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Maribeth Knight has announced her candidacy for the Republican nomination for Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board, District 6.
Knight was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, and she has resided in Clarksville since 2017. She is the mother of seven children, six of whom attend Clarksville-Montgomery County schools, with the eldest attending Austin Peay State University. Knight is married to 20-year Army veteran Jason Knight, who served at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and is a member of the Montgomery County Commission.
Knight said she is running to “develop solutions to protect children, school staff and educators from bullying and enhance safety procedures in the schools as well as on our buses.” She said she “will strive to be transparent with every parent and staff in the district and the county as a whole, and provide every parent and educator the opportunity to have a say in the decision making process by conducting town halls and weekly school visits to ensure their voices are heard.”
Knight says she will also fight for parent and teacher rights and will fight to assist with allocating funds for teacher classroom needs by working with the schools’ financial director and the County Commission.
Knight wants to work with local and state officials and with CMCSS on behalf of disabled and students on an IEP to improve IEP and 504 processes. Knight says, “We have some amazing educators, I myself have four children on an IEP, there is no reason why parents and educators can’t work together to help improve and iron out these processes.”
Knight helps manage and run their family-owned business Knight Officiant Services & More.
