Margaret Ruth Black, age 79, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home with the Revs. Tony Baggett and Faye Winstead officiating. Burial will follow in the Black Cemetery. The Black family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Margaret Ruth entered into this life on September 24, 1940, in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Christopher Columbus Stanfield and Mae Catherine Lance Stanfield. She was retired from a career in health care and enjoyed being a loving mother and grandmother. Margaret Ruth was a member of Patterson’s Chapel Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Black. Survivors include her children, Greg Black, Jeffrey Black, and Melinda Brown; sisters Juanita Bohanon, Shirley Guire, Jewell Warden, and Jane Berlinski; and four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Pulley, Edwin Baggett, Carroll Baggett, Rodney Lowe, Jerry Lee Black, Mark Bohanon, Benny Black, and Paul Gooden. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Horn, Chris Parchman, and David Lowery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Nikki Mitchell Foundation.
