Middle Tennessee’s peak tornado season of March, April, and May becomes obvious, as shown in the chart below. Nearly two-thirds (66%) of Middle Tennessee’s tornadoes have occurred during these three months.

On January 22, 1999 an F3 tornado struck Clarksville causing a handful of injuries and millions of dollars in damage.

124 buildings were destroyed and 562 buildings damaged. These included residential, commercial, government, public and buildings at Austin Peay State University.
