NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After receiving multiple complaints in two hours, Mapco’s supplier has voluntarily shut down gas pumps at three stations in three different Middle Tennessee cities, according to WKRN News 2.

Tests revealed there was diesel fuel in unleaded gas pumps at MAPCO stations after the company and state received complaints of complications from customers after they filled up their cars.

The samples were tested Wednesday, when it was revealed by Department of Agriculture officials the unleaded pumps contained diesel fuel.

The gas stations affected are located at 2099 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard in Clarksville, 2401 Highway 109 in Lebanon, and 3043 Nolensville Pike in Nashville.

It’s unclear at this time exactly what the problem is but two of the complaints were formal and sent to the state of Tennessee.

Corinne Gould, the Director of Public Affairs with the Department of Agriculture, told News 2 Mapco then preemptively shut down the gas pumps as a precaution.

They also shut down their terminal in Hohenwald where they get the gas that is transported to stations across region.

Coleman anticipates the inspector will take a sample for testing. Lab results aren’t expected to be completed soon.

Mapco told News 2 they are aware of the situation and that their policy is to reimburse customers for bad gas and any damages to their vehicle sustained from bad gas.

Anyone with complaints about fuel quality should contact 1-800-OCTANE1.

Late last month, after a complaint, an inspector discovered several inches of water in the tank at a Mapco Station in Chattanooga.

It was not immediately known if that’s the same issue the stations in Clarksville, Lebanon and Nashville are experiencing.
