CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Recently, Manna Café received a $25,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program to assist with developing The Storehouse, a recently rented commissary warehouse on Crossland Avenue.

Specifically, this grant will positively impact the local community by allowing Manna Café to collect and distribute more food to meet growing demands in our community.

“Since 2010, Manna Café’s headquarters have shifted from a small borrowed building to a rented 5,000-square-foot warehouse,” said Manna Café Founder and CEO Kenny York. “In January, we occupied a second warehouse and office space, the Storehouse. With the help of this grant, this second, 6,700-square-foot space allows us to sort and distribute the increasing amount of food, hygiene products, coats and blankets we handle every day.”

“At the Walmart Foundation, we understand that organizations such as Manna Café are essential to building stronger communities. They share our values and are committed to helping those who experience food insecurity to live better,” said Clarksville Market Manager Adam Steele. “Through this donation, we are hopeful that residents in Clarksville/Montgomery County will have access to even more healthy food.”

Manna Café Ministries is a faith-based organization devoted to meeting the needs of homeless and low-income families in Clarksville and Montgomery County. Each year, Manna Café provides food boxes and hot meals to more than 20,000 local residents.

The Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program supports organizations that create opportunities so people can live better, awarding grants that have a long-lasting, positive impact on communities across the U.S.
