Update, 1:30 p.m.: Montgomery County Animal Care and Control is reminding everyone to take precautions for their animals with dangerous heat this week. Last year, Montgomery County had 10 heat stroke calls and at least five deaths for dogs who were either left outdoors or in a vehicle without access to shade or water.
Owners are urged to ensure dogs are kept inside, or at least have access to both shade and fresh water all day. Never leave a dog in an unattended car.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Manna Café will be providing a cooling shelter for the next three days in anticipation of this week’s dangerously hot conditions.
Montgomery and surrounding counties are under an Excessive Heat Warning from 11 a.m. Thursday through 8 p.m. Friday.
The shelter will be open at the Manna Refuge building at 503 D St., according to a news release. Anyone seeking relief from the hot temperatures will be provided an air-conditioned environment, cold drinks and sandwiches.
The hours of operation are:
- Wednesday, June 28, from 1 to 5 p.m.
- Thursday, June 29, from 1 to 6 p.m.
- Friday, June 30, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
