CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Supporters of Manna Café Ministries gathered for a “Grits and Gravy” fundraiser breakfast Thursday, June 18 at the Riverview Inn. Manna Café is a faith-based organization devoted to meeting the needs of homeless and low-income families in Montgomery County.

The event was sponsored by the Riverview Inn and Align MD which is owned by Tennessee State Senator Mark Green who was the guest speaker. Senator Green talked about Manna Café and encouraged everyone to support the work of the organization in the community.

Manna Café Director Kenny York made an emotional appeal saying the organization is growing but there’s one growth that is not happening. “One of the growths that hasn’t happened is our finances. What the public doesn’t know is that most months we’re operating in the red and it gets pretty scary sometimes,” said York.

In Clarksville-Montgomery each week Manna Café serves four hot meals, 1,700 food boxes per month and each night offers an emergency shelter for over 50 homeless persons. All of the funds raised remain local and assist residents in need.

In another fundraising effort Manna Cafe is sponsoring a Color Me Cool Art Show & Ice Cream Festival on Saturday, August 2 from 12-8 p.m. at 635 Frosty Morn Drive
