CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A man attempting to chase away car burglars was shot with his own gun by one of the suspected burglars.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, a little before midnight, a 22-year-old man noticed the dome light on inside of his Camaro while it was parked in the apartment complex at 1925 Ashland City Road.

There were two men rummaging through his car, and he physically confronted one of the men who was standing outside of the driver’s side. He pinned the suspect against the car and looked inside the center console where he had stored his gun.

The gun was missing.

A fight ensued between the car owner and one of the suspects. During the fight, the other suspect came around the side of the car and shot the car owner in the foot.

Both suspected car burglars then ran from the crime scene.

It was determined the car had been unlocked and the gun was left inside of the console.  The suspects had taken the gun from the vehicle and used it to shoot the victim.

The suspects were described as two black males with black hoodies and black gloves and both appeared to be very young.  One of the males was about 5’8″ and the other about 6’0″.

The victim went to the hospital, was treated, and released.
