CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville Police are investigating the third shooting in the past week following an incident early Tuesday on Ringgold Court.

According to a press release, officers responded to a call regarding a shooting in progress at approximately 3:07 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a 35-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The shooter, identified as 53-year-old male Carl Rav Scaggs, left the scene before officers arrived. He was located by patrol officers on Golf Club Lane at around 3:30.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a Nashville hospital in critical condition.  It appears that the shooting stemmed from an argument which occurred inside an apartment.

Scaggs was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with criminal attempt to commit homicide. His bond was set at $500,000.

It was determined Scaggs had shot the victim inside of the apartment after he slapped a woman who Scaggs had a previous relationship with.

The victim is still in critical condition and the investigation is ongoing.

This is the third Clarksville shooting in the past week. On Wednesday a woman was shot and killed in an apartment on Fairview Lane and Sunday two men were shot following a confrontation with bail bond agents.
