CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – 19-year-old Charlie Sabb plead guilty to multiple charges Friday in the hit and run death of 19-year-old APSU student Danielle Hutchinson.
Sabb was accused of hitting a vehicle at a high rate of speed as it was backing out of a driveway Dec. 10, 2013 on Kelsey Dr. in Clarksville.
According to a press release, Sabb was sentenced to serve on the following charges:
• Vehicular Homicide – 3 years to serve
• Aggravated Assault – 2 years to serve
• Aggravated Assault – 2 years to serve
• Leaving the scene of a death – 1 year to serve
• False reports – 2 years to serve
In an unrelated case, Sabb also was sentenced to serve 1 year for forgery.
All sentences are to run concurrently. For confinement sentences, 30 percent of the time must be served before the individual is eligible for parole.
THE INCIDENT:
On Dec. 10, 2013, a 2008 Ford Explorer driven by Sabb at a high rate of speed south on Kelsey Dr. collided with a 2003 Buick Regal that was backing from a private drive.
Sabb’s vehicle rolled to a rest on the left side of the roadway. The victim’s vehicle was spun through a residential yard, struck a mailbox on Kelsey Dr., and came to rest after striking a light pole.
The Regal was driven by 24-year-old Tyjuan Northington, who was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition. A juvenile passenger was taken to Gateway Medical Center, and passenger Danielle Hutchinson (19), died of injuries sustained in the collision.
Sabb and another individual fled the scene on foot. Sabb was eventually identified and taken into custody on October 17, 2014.
