CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A family’s dog is safe and sound thanks to the efforts of a local man who saved her when she fell down a bluff.
Matt Kautz received a call from his girlfriend’s mother Tuesday, who told him a neighbor’s dog had fallen down a bluff in the Bradbury Farms neighborhood. Kautz was familiar with the bluff and had repelled down it before, so he grabbed his gear and headed to the site.
The neighbor said a young boy was walking the dog after school. The dog, who is named Molly, slipped out of her leash and ran away toward the edge of the bluff. She fell over the side before she could be reached.
Kautz said the distance from the bluff to where Molly fell is approximately 65 feet.

Molly ripped one of her dew claws during the fall, but was otherwise uninjured. The spot where Molly fell was full of wet silt, which likely cushioned her fall. “The dog was very lucky,” Kautz said.
Kautz was able to carry the dog back up to higher ground. “Everything came together alright,” he said.
