CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) a driver involved in a fatal crash on Tiny Town Rd. has been indicted by the Montgomery County Grand Jury.

25-year-old Tyler Pettie was booked into the Montgomery County jail on charges of vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, and speeding in connection with the March 17 crash.

The crash claimed the life of 21-year-old Austin McElwrath who was stopped for a red light at the intersection of Ft Campbell Blvd and Tiny Town when the car driven by Pettie struck McElwrath’s vehicle from behind.

McElwrath was taken by Life flight to Vanderbilt Hospital and died from his injuries.

Clarksville Police say the investigation revealed Tyler Pettie was traveling 65 mph in a 45 zone when the crash occurred. Additionally, it was determined there were prescription medications present in Pettie’s blood at the time of the crash.

Pettie’s bond is $75,000.
