CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A man was arrested Saturday, Feb. 15 after hitting an officer’s patrol car while resisting arrest.
According to a report from the Clarksville Police Department, an officer was patrolling the area near Kellog St. when he pulled over Christopher Winters, 29, on suspicion of a possible warrant on file.
The officer approached Winters to tell him why he was being detained, and as he held his arms back Winters pulled away and moved toward the driver’s seat of his vehicle. He was able to put the key in the ignition and attempted to put the car in gear and hit the gas. While the two struggled, the vehicle began to move with both Winters and the officer inside.
At this point, another officer had just arrived on the scene, and Winters backed his vehicle into the patrol car while the officer was still inside. The car then began to move toward a fence when both officers were able to pull Winters from the vehicle.
Winters did have an active warrant on file. He was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.
