CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A man with a lengthy criminal history was arrested Thursday night after crashing a stolen vehicle into the Wendy’s drive-thru on Wilma Rudolph Blvd.
Officers were called to the scene Oct. 18 around 9 p.m. after a witness saw the Mercury C6S crash into the drive-thru sign. The driver then fled the scene with the car still running, according to the witness.
The witness told ClarksvilleNow.com that police found the suspect a few minutes later near the Tilted Kilt parking lot. He seemed to be intoxicated and would not complete sobriety tests.
Clarksville police said the car was allegedly stolen from Oak Grove, but warrants for the theft had not yet been secured. The car still had ‘for sale’ stickers on the glass at the time of the crash.
Police identified the suspect as 41-year-old Michael Shane Patterson. He has multiple active warrants from Tennessee and Kentucky.
Patterson was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, violation of implied consent leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance, driving on a revoked license, fugitive-wanted by other state, vandalism, and contraband in a penal institution His bond was set at $290,000.
