CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville man was arrested Sunday for allegedly firing a gun at a woman and her child and fleeing the scene.

The victim said the father of her child, 23-year-old Zachary Wimberly, was hiding near the parking area of an apartment on South Lancaster Rd. when she arrived home.

She and her mother got out of the car and were approached by Wimberly, who threatened to kill them, according to an arrest warrant.

The victim said she was carrying her child away from Wimberly when he pulled out a gun, chambered a round, and started firing.

A fired 380 shell casing was later found in the grass near the area by police. No injuries were reported.

Wimberly fled the scene on foot and officers found him near Cunningham Lane and Boxcroft Rd., according to a second warrant. He ran through several backyards and hid under a bush. When officers discovered him, they told him to stay on the ground but Wimberly allegedly got up and was tasered.

Wimberly was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest. He had two previous arrest warrants on file. His bond was set at $120,500.
