CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Friday evening at a residence on Chapel Street.

The 911 call center received multiple calls of shots fired around 5:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a man in his 50s who had been shot lying on the ground. He was transported by ambulance to Tennova Hospital in extremely critical condition.

He died from his injuries later in the night.

Based on information given to officers at the scene, the victim may have been involved in a physical altercation prior to being shot. Officers are processing the crime scene, canvassing the area, and conducting interviews.

The incident is being treated as a homicide investigation.
