CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville man who has been convicted of burglary seven times has been nabbed again.
According to an arrest warrant, a witness told police on Dec. 3 that as he was driving past his auto repair business on Wilma Rudolph Blvd. he saw a man dressed in dark clothing bent over inside a vehicle.
As he approached the man, he allegedly fled toward Premier Medical on Wilma Rudolph Blvd.
Officers found a man matching the suspect’s description in the parking lot with his hands in his pockets. Officers patted him down and found multiple items on his person, and the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Charles Adkins, consented to a search.
They then discovered that he was in possession of several items commonly used as burglary tools including a screwdriver, flashlight, pick, pliers, and multi tools.
Police also found a pink set of headphones, which Adkins said belonged to his girlfriend. However, a vehicle burglary had been reported a few hours earlier that involved the theft of a similar pair of headphones.
The witness who placed the initial call identified Adkins as the man he had seen, and Adkins was arrested and charged with vehicle burglary and possession of burglary tools.
He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
His arrest warrants states that Adkins has been convicted of burglary seven times since 1991.
