CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville man has been arrested after allegedly whipping his friend’s 6-year-old child.
According to an arrest warrant, the child’s mother said she dropped her son off at daycare on Nov. 24, 2016 and allowed her friend, 27-year-old Hasaan Slaughter, to pick up her son.
The warrant says the child accidentally hit Slaughter’s child in the face with a toy, so Slaughter then reportedly whipped the child with a belt.
Police said visible marks were left on the child even though his clothes were on during the whipping.
The child was lying on his stomach during the whipping and his face struck a transition piece on the floor, causing him to lose a tooth.
Slaughter’s arrest warrant says he has a history of aggravated assault in 2014.
He was arrested Feb. 23, 2017 and charged with child abuse and neglect. He is being held on $50,000 bond in the Montgomery County Jail.
