CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A man has been indicted by a grand jury and arrested on charges that he shot at a vehicle with four passengers inside, causing a wreck.
On March 4, at approximately 11:35 p.m., police responded to an accident at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Main Street. According to court documents obtained by Clarksville Now, upon arrival, police observed what appeared to be multiple bullet holes in the hood and windshield of the victims’ car.
During the course of the investigation, the victims were an adult driver and three juveniles. The driver told police that while he was driving on Riverside Drive, a vehicle approached them on the driver’s side and fired shots, causing their vehicle to crash.
Jared Y. Lazu Candelaria was identified as one of the suspects in the case and was interviewed on March 8. He admitted that he was the driver of the vehicle the shots were fired from and that knew what was going to happen, according to the records.
Four spent shell casings were recovered from the inside of Lazu Candelaria’s vehicle. Lazu Candelaria was indicted by a grand jury on four counts of aggravated assault involving the use of a deadly weapon.
