CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville man was arrested Dec. 4 for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at the Dover Crossing Kroger location.
According to an arrest warrant, 21-year-old David Griffith approached the victim inside the store, grabbed her sides and stomach, and would not let her go. The warrant states Griffith fondled the woman’s breasts as she struggled to cover herself and attempted to touch her all over her body.
Griffith told the woman he was “going to get into her pants.”
A witness pulled Griffith off the victim and restrained him until police arrived at the scene. While he was being held, witnesses said he kept yelling that he was a pedophile.
Another witness said she noticed red marks on the victim’s back and neck.
When police took Griffith into custody, he said he wanted to “kill himself and everyone else” and was taken to Gateway Medical Center for evaluation before being transferred to the Montgomery County Jail.
Griffith was charged with forcible fondling and sexual battery. His bond was set at $100,000.
