CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville man was arrested after allegedly threatening to assault a woman so she would say she loved him.

According to an arrest warrant, 49-year-old Larry Wayne Burney entered the woman’s home and held a knife to her throat to force her to say the words.

The victim said Burney ripped her necklace and shirt off her body and snapped her phone in half.

He then allegedly told the victim he would kill her if she tried to leave the home.

Police noticed Burney standing on the front porch and looking unsteady on his feet. The warrant states that he smelled of alcohol, refused to answer the officer’s questions, and yelled and cursed while being escorted to the patrol car.

The officer also found a small metal pipe in Burney’s pocket.

Burney was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with public intoxication, aggravated domestic assault, and unlawful drug paraphernalia.
