CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A man suspected of shooting at a driver during a traffic incident April 21 has been released from the hospital and faces multiple charges.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reported Brian Caudle, 49, was released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center Tuesday and charged with attempted second degree murder, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.
Caudle allegedly drove up behind Ellis Clippinger, 22, on State Highway 48-13 near 149 and tapped his vehicle, causing it to stall.
Clippinger was forced to pull over, which is when deputies said Caudle began firing shots into Clippinger’s car. Clippinger returned fire at Caudle, striking him at least once.
Caudle fled from the scene and stopped his vehicle less than a half-mile away near Dean Road, where he fell out of the car.
His bond was originally set at $800,000 but an arrest warrant shows that it was reduced to $250,000 through an agreement with his attorney. Caudle will be required to wear an ankle monitor and submit to weekly drug tests. His next court date is scheduled for May 6.
