CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Police have made an arrest in a 2018 death in Clarksville in which a woman was shot while her two children were strapped in car seats.
On June 17, 2018, at 8:37 p.m., Clarksville Police responded to shots fired call near Main Street and 11th Street, according to a news release Wednesday night from Sgt. Charles Gill.

Officers found the car off the roadway in a field by Franklin and 11th Street, according to previous Clarksville Now reports.
Inside the car they found Taren Lyles, 22, in the driver’s seat with a gunshot wound.
Her two children, ages 1 and 2 years old, were strapped in their car seats. Both children were unharmed, despite that multiple rounds were fired into the vehicle, police said at the time.
Lyles was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Detectives with the Special Operations Homicide Unit presented the case to the Montgomery County Grand Jury, which returned with a murder indictment for Mark Ellis, 27, of Clarksville, Gill said.
Wednesday at 5:38 p.m., Ellis was taken into custody without incident on Kraft Street by agents with the Special Operations Division.
He was booked into Montgomery County Jail on charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder, reckless endangerment and weapons charges.
No further information on the case was released.
