CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville man was arrested early Monday morning for DUI and allegedly assaulting an officer.

According to an arrest warrant, 33-year-old Nicholas May was seen by a witness leaving Little Tippers Bar on Tiny Town Rd. around 3:21 a.m., and the witness said he appeared intoxicated.

An officer followed May and noticed him swerving and speeding. The officer attempted to pull him over, but the car had already stopped and when the officer approached the vehicle he noticed both tires on the driver’s side of the vehicle were flat.

The officer asked the man for his ID and May handed him his wallet. His eyes were blood shot and his speech was slurred, and he told the officer he had urinated on himself. Two open beer cans were found in the vehicle and May admitted to being drunk.

May refused to perform a field sobriety test and was arrested and transported to Montgomery County Jail. While waiting for EMS to arrive for a blood test May growled, lunged at the officer, and head-butted him. The officer hit May in the neck and he fell to the ground, according to the warrant.

May was then handcuffed to a table and while the officer walked past he kicked the officer in the groin and the officer pepper-sprayed him.

He was charged with assault, DUI, driving on a revoked or suspended license, violation of open container law, and violation of implied consent. His bond was set at $65,250.
