CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville man was arrested July 16 for allegedly trying to solicit a teenage girl for sex, who turned out to be an undercover investigator with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
According to an arrest warrant, 39-year-old Benjamin Bishop responded by email to personal ads posted on CraigsList by the investigator, who was posing as a 16-year-old girl. The warrant says the investigator made the age clear several times.
The two agreed to meet up for sex July 16 at the Dollar Tree parking lot near the Sango Walmart location and described the vehicles they would be driving.
When Bishop arrived at the agreed upon time, he was arrested for solicitation of a minor.
His arrest warrant says he admitted that he believed he would be meeting up with a 16-year-old for sex.
Bishop was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
