MONTGOMERY CO., Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man who is accused of stealing a deputy’s patrol car following a traffic stop and fight.
At approximately 9:53 a.m., a deputy was conducting a traffic stop at the intersection of Sango Drive and Sango Road. The deputy and the man that was stopped began fighting and a foot pursuit ensued, according to a news release the MCSO.
At 9:59 the man who was stopped got into the deputy’s vehicle and drove off heading towards Interstate 24 East.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol was called immediately as well as helicopter back up.
According to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, all patrol vehicles are outfitted with GPS systems which allow their locations to be tracked.
The man was taken into custody at approximately 10:24 a.m. on Bearwollow Road in Ashland City.
